Ask five suppliers in the UAE for a plate compactor price and you'll get five different answers — and at least two of them will just say “send us an enquiry.” That makes it hard to budget, especially when you're pricing a job that starts next week.
This guide gives you straight numbers. Below you'll find realistic 2026 price ranges in AED for every common plate compactor class sold in the UAE, what actually moves the price up or down, and how to avoid the two most expensive mistakes buyers make: paying for more machine than the job needs, or buying a cheap import with no spare parts behind it.
At AMACO, we supply plate compactors and other compaction equipment to contractors across Dubai, Ajman, Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE, so these are the numbers we see in the market every day.
How Much Does a Plate Compactor Cost in the UAE?
Here's what you can expect to pay for a new plate compactor in the UAE in 2026:
| Machine class | Typical use | Price range (AED) |
|---|---|---|
| Light plate, 50–70 kg, petrol | Paving, walkways, small backfill | 2,000 – 3,500 |
| Mid-weight plate, 80–100 kg, petrol | Sub-base, trenches, general site work | 3,500 – 5,500 |
| Heavy plate, 110–160 kg, petrol/diesel | Roadbed, deep sub-base layers | 5,500 – 9,000 |
| Reversible plate, 160 kg+ | Deep compaction, confined areas | 9,000 – 18,000+ |
A few notes on these ranges:
- Online marketplaces list imported units from around AED 1,200–3,800, but most ship from outside the UAE with no local warranty, no service centre and no parts stock. The sticker price is rarely the real price.
- Diesel engines add roughly 15–25% over the petrol equivalent, but cut fuel costs on long-running jobs.
- Branded Japanese engines (Robin, Honda) sit at the upper end of each range — and hold resale value far better.
The 90 kg class is the workhorse of UAE sites. It's heavy enough for proper sub-base compaction but still fits in a pickup. Our Baylorr BAY-PC90C 90 kg plate compactor sits in this class — message us on WhatsApp for a same-day quote with delivery anywhere in the UAE.
What Actually Drives the Price
Two machines can look identical in photos and differ by AED 3,000. Here's where the money goes:
Engine brand
The engine is roughly half the cost of the machine. A genuine Robin or Honda petrol engine costs more upfront, but it starts every morning in August heat, and every mechanic in the UAE stocks parts for it. Unbranded engines are where cheap compactors cut their corner — and it shows after the first summer.
Plate weight and centrifugal force
Compaction performance comes from plate weight plus vibration force (measured in kN). A 90 kg plate at 13–15 kN compacts sub-base layers a 60 kg plate simply can't. Heavier plate, bigger vibration unit, higher price.
Forward-only vs reversible
Forward-only plates are simpler and cheaper. Reversible plates change direction without turning around — essential in trenches and against walls, but the hydraulic mechanism roughly doubles the cost.
Build quality of the base plate
Look for a self-cleaning, wear-resistant base plate with reinforced edges. A warped or cracked base plate ends the machine's life; a good one outlasts two engines.
New vs Used: Is a Second-Hand Compactor Worth It?
Used 90 kg compactors in the UAE typically sell for AED 1,500–3,000. That can be a fair deal — if the vibration unit and engine are healthy. The problem is you usually can't tell until it's on your site.
If you already own a machine that's down, our team handles plate compactor repair and servicing with genuine spare parts in stock at our Ajman workshop.
Don't Forget the Running Costs
The purchase price is only part of the picture. Budget for:
- Fuel: a 90 kg petrol plate uses roughly 1–1.5 litres per hour.
- Belts and shock mounts: consumables, typically replaced yearly on daily-use machines. AED 100–300 per set.
- Engine servicing: oil and filter changes every 50–100 running hours.
Plate Compactor or Tamping Rammer?
If your work is mostly narrow trenches, footings and cohesive soils, a tamping rammer may suit you better than a plate — it delivers deeper impact force in a smaller footprint. Plates win on granular soils, sub-base and asphalt where coverage speed matters. Many contractors end up running one of each. (See our full plate compactor vs tamping rammer comparison for the soil-by-soil breakdown.)
Why Buy From a UAE-Based Supplier
Importing directly can shave a little off the price, but a UAE-based plate compactor supplier gives you three things an overseas listing can't:
- Same-week delivery to your site, anywhere in the UAE
- A warranty someone will actually honour, with a local workshop behind it
- Spare parts on the shelf — belts, shock mounts, throttle cables, base plates
AMACO stocks Baylorr compaction equipment at our Ajman facility, with servicing, motor rewinding and genuine parts under the same roof. Send us your site requirements and we'll recommend the right class of machine — not just the most expensive one.
Frequently Asked Questions
New plate compactors in the UAE range from around AED 2,000 for a light 60 kg petrol model to AED 18,000+ for heavy reversible plates. The popular 90 kg class typically costs AED 3,500–5,500.
For paving and light backfill, 50–70 kg is enough. For sub-base and general construction, choose 80–100 kg. For roadwork and deep layers, go 110 kg or heavier, or a reversible plate.
They can work for occasional light use, but most come without local warranty or spare parts support. For daily site use, a locally supported machine costs less over its life.
A plate compactor covers large areas of granular soil and asphalt quickly. A tamping rammer delivers deeper impact in narrow trenches and cohesive soils. Many sites need both.
Yes. AMACO delivers from our Ajman facility to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and all Emirates, usually within the same week, with servicing and spare parts support after the sale.
