Why It Matters

A burned-out motor stops a pour. A rewind starts it again.

A burned-out motor on a concrete mixer stops a villa pour. A failed motor on a water pump shuts down a construction camp. A dead motor on a workshop compressor takes out a day's production. When it happens, the fast fix isn't a new motor — it's a rewind. Cheaper, usually faster than importing a replacement, and often the only practical option when the motor is obsolete or hard-to-source.

AMACO runs a motor rewinding service from our Ajman workshop. We handle 15–25 rewinds a month for industrial and construction clients — the workshop is set up for volume, not one-off jobs.

The Basics

What Is Motor Rewinding and Why Do It?

Motor rewinding is the process of stripping out failed copper windings from an electric motor's stator (and sometimes rotor), replacing them with new copper wire wound to the original specification, re-insulating, and testing the rebuilt motor under load to confirm it performs to the original rating.

Motors fail for predictable reasons — insulation breakdown from heat or moisture, overloading that burns the winding, voltage spikes, bearing failure that drags the rotor, contamination from dust or water. In most cases the motor body (frame, shaft, rotor core) is still good; only the copper windings need replacing. That's where rewinding pays off:

30–50% Cheaper

Roughly 30–50% cheaper than buying a new equivalent motor in most ratings. Rewind cost is largely copper and labour; you avoid the markup on a new motor body.

Faster Than Importing

Two working days at our workshop versus two-plus weeks waiting for an overseas-ordered replacement. For active sites with a stopped pour or shut-down camp, that's the difference that matters.

Sometimes the Only Option

If the motor is obsolete, discontinued, or hard-to-source, rewinding is often the only practical fix. We can match almost any winding spec from the original motor's nameplate data.

Environmentally Cleaner

Avoids the metal and copper waste of scrapping a repairable motor. The frame, shaft, and rotor core are still good — only the windings need replacing.

Coverage

Motors We Rewind

Our workshop handles the full range of common motors used in UAE industrial and construction operations.

By Type

Single-Phase AC Motors

Household and light-industrial applications, typically up to 5 kW. Common on small pumps, compressors, fans, and shop equipment.

Three-Phase AC Motors

The standard for industrial equipment — from ~0.75 kW up to our 100 kW workshop ceiling. Concrete mixers, plate compactors, factory machinery.

AC Induction Motors

The workhorse type used in pumps, compressors, mixers, conveyors, and fans across most UAE construction and industrial operations.

By Size

Workshop Capacity
Small Motors · Under 5 kW
Fans, small pumps, compressors, power tools
Medium Motors · 5 – 30 kW
Construction equipment motors, industrial pumps, compressors, mixers
Large Motors · 30 – 100 kW
Industrial compressors, heavy pumps, factory machinery

Motors over 100 kW are outside our current workshop capacity. If you have a larger motor, contact us anyway — we can sometimes refer specialist shops for the specific rating.

By Brand

We rewind motors of any brand. Brand doesn't matter; what matters is the motor's physical specs — frame size, winding configuration, voltage, and output rating.

Ten Steps

Our Motor Rewinding Process

From inspection through testing to return — every motor follows the same documented ten-step process, with real workshop photos at each stage. No shortcuts on the varnish cure step (the one that determines long-term reliability).

01

Inspection and Quote

Inspection and Quote

Bring the motor to our Ajman workshop or request pickup within 20 km. Same-day inspection — we test the windings, check the rotor and bearings, verify the frame is still serviceable. Written quote within the same working day.

02

Stripping and Cleaning the Stator

Stripping and Cleaning the Stator

Old windings are burned off and pulled from the stator slots. The stator core is cleaned down, inspected for heat damage, and tested. If the core laminations are damaged beyond usable condition, we flag it and revise the plan before proceeding.

03

Insulation — Slot Papering

Insulation — Slot Papering

Fresh slot liners (slot paper) are cut and inserted into every stator slot before any new wire goes in. This is the insulation layer between the copper windings and the steel core — skipping or rushing this step is how cheap rewinds fail early.

04

Coil Winding

Coil Winding

New copper wire is wound to match the original specification — turn count, wire gauge, and coil pitch pulled from the motor's nameplate and our reference data. For three-phase motors we confirm star/delta configuration before winding begins.

05

Inserting the Coils

Inserting the Coils

Wound coils are carefully inserted into the correct stator slots in sequence. Slot wedges are fitted to hold the coils in place and protect the wire ends from movement once the motor is running.

06

Lacing and Shaping

Lacing and Shaping

The coil overhangs (end-windings) are laced, tied, and shaped to sit tight and balanced within the motor's end-bell clearance. Proper shaping prevents vibration damage and ensures the end bells close cleanly on reassembly.

07

Connection and Varnishing

Connection and Varnishing

Phase connections are made and verified against the original winding diagram. The completed stator is then dipped in insulating varnish and bake-cured at controlled temperature — the step that determines long-term moisture resistance and reliability.

08

Reassembly

Reassembly

Rotor, bearings (replaced if worn), end bells, and terminal connections are reassembled. Bearing fit and shaft clearance are checked before the motor is closed up.

09

Testing

Testing

Insulation resistance check, no-load run test, and loaded test where the application requires it. Results are documented and released with the motor. Motor is not cleared for collection until it passes.

10

Return

Return

Motor collected from our Ajman workshop or delivered within the 20 km radius for the return-leg charge quoted upfront. No surprises — collection charges are fixed at quote time.

Timeline

Turnaround Time

Standard turnaround: two working days from quote approval. That covers:

  • Day 1 — strip-down, new copper wound, varnish dip
  • Day 2 — cure, reassemble, test, release

Larger motors (50 kW+) may need a third day for varnish cure and final testing. Urgent turnaround is sometimes available on request — WhatsApp us with a realistic deadline and we'll confirm.

20 km Service Radius

Pickup & Drop-Off Within 20 km

Our pickup and drop-off service covers a 20 km radius from our Ajman workshop at AL JURF, Jiddah Street, Ajman Industrial 2. That includes:

  • Full Ajman emirate
  • Parts of Sharjah adjacent to Ajman — typically Muweilah, Al Jurainah, areas bordering Ajman
  • Some eastern parts of Dubai (boundary cases — confirm by postcode)

Pickup charges depend on distance and motor size. Small motors typically pricing on request round-trip; larger motors higher. Get a firm figure when you request the quote — we don't surprise-charge on collection.
