Concrete that has not been vibrated properly keeps the air that went in with it. Those voids show up as honeycombing once the formwork comes off — and by then the fix is a repair, an inspection, and an argument. Frequently Asked Questions
It removes trapped air from freshly poured concrete. Air pockets left in the pour become honeycombing — voids in the finished surface that weaken the structure and expose reinforcement to corrosion. Vibrating the pour consolidates the mix around the rebar and against the formwork, which is what gives the concrete its rated strength.
