Power Where There Is None
A light tower is a generator that happens to carry lights.
Both halves of this page answer the same question: how does a site that has no supply get power? A mobile light tower answers it for night work — a diesel engine and an alternator on a towable trailer, raising floodlights over the job. A diesel generator, or genset, answers it for everything else. AMACO supplies both across the UAE from Ajman.
The tower we stock is the Baylorr BLT-4350, and it is genuinely dual-purpose: the Kubota engine and MeccAlte alternator that raise and run the lights also put out 380–415V three phase, so the same machine lights the work and powers the tools. Mobile Light Towers
What a Mobile Light Tower Is For
A mobile light tower is a trailer-mounted diesel generator with a telescopic mast and floodlights on top. It is the answer whenever work has to continue after dark somewhere that has no supply to plug into — which in the UAE is most of the summer, because the shift moves to night and the work does not stop with the daylight.
Night pours and continuous shifts
A concrete pour that starts at 4pm does not stop because the sun did. A mobile light tower puts working light over the pour area so the finishing crew can see the surface they are closing — the difference between a slab finished properly and one finished by torchlight.
Roadworks and night lane closures
UAE roadworks move to night shifts through summer for the obvious reason. A diesel light tower is towable behind a pickup, sets up in minutes and lights a work zone without needing a supply to connect to.
Yards, compounds and laydown areas
Security lighting and safe movement of plant after dark. A tower light on a trailer can be repositioned as the yard layout changes, which fixed lighting cannot.
Sites with no mains supply yet
Early-stage sites have no permanent power. The tower brings its own — the engine and alternator that raise the lights also give you a three-phase outlet for tools.

Two figures are worth reading together. The 114 litre tank and the 197 hour runtime mean a tower that is refuelled roughly fortnightly on a night-shift pattern rather than every morning — fewer fuel runs, and fewer people moving around a live site in the dark. And the 380–415V three-phase output is not a footnote: it is what lets the tower double as site power before the supply is connected.

Diesel Generators & Gensets
A genset is simply a diesel engine and an alternator packaged on one frame — the trade contraction of generating set. Unlike the tower, we do not hold generators as a stocked range: the right set depends entirely on your load, your phase and the noise the site can live with, so as a diesel generator supplier we quote against the spec rather than sell you whatever size is in the container.
Silent diesel generator
Quoted to specA canopied set, sound-attenuated so it can run near occupied buildings, hospitals, hotels and residential streets without becoming the complaint that stops the job. The canopy also keeps weather and site dust out of the alternator. This is what most UAE projects mean when they ask for a genset.
Open-frame diesel generator
Quoted to specNo canopy, so cheaper and easier to service, and louder. It suits a fenced compound or an industrial yard well away from anyone who has to listen to it. Ask for open frame only when noise genuinely is not a constraint.
Standby and prime rating
Specify at quoteA set rated for standby duty is sized for occasional backup, not for running a site all day. Prime-rated is the one that carries a continuous construction load. Getting this wrong is how a generator that looked well priced ends up derated, overheating and short-lived.
Auto-start and changeover
OptionalAn auto-start controller and a changeover panel let the set pick up the load when mains drops, without someone walking out to press a button. Worth specifying wherever an outage costs more than the panel does.

Sizing
Choosing a Generator for a Construction Site
This is the part buyers most often get wrong, and it costs twice — once on the machine and again on the fuel it burns for years afterwards. Sizing a generator for construction site work comes down to five things:
- Add up the running load first, then the starting load. Motors — mixers, vibrators, pumps, a tower crane — draw several times their running current for the second or two they start, and it is that peak the set has to swallow without the voltage sagging.
- Count what actually runs at the same time, not the full plant list. Sizing off a list of everything on site is the most common way to end up with a set that spends its life lightly loaded.
- Do not undersize, but do not chase headroom either. A diesel generator run far below its rating wet-stacks — unburnt fuel glazes the bores and fouls the exhaust — which shortens engine life and is expensive to undo.
- Match the phase to the tools. Three phase for rebar machines, larger mixers and most site plant; single phase only if that genuinely is all you run.
- Work out fuel autonomy in shifts, not litres. The question worth answering is how many hours the set runs before someone has to refuel it, and whether that lands inside or outside a working shift.
