One Machine, Five Names
A power float and a power trowel are the same machine.
UAE sites say power float. Catalogues and datasheets say power trowel. Import paperwork often says concrete power float, and half the crews on site call it the helicopter. Whatever the term, it is the machine that turns a bull-floated slab into the hard, dense, closed surface no hand tool can match at scale. Few machines on a UAE site carry as many names as this one, and the confusion costs buyers money — people call three suppliers, describe the machine three different ways, and get quotes they cannot compare. Every name below is the same machine.
Power trowel / concrete power trowel
What the catalogues, manufacturers and import paperwork call it. Same machine, same blades, same job — the term you will see on a spec sheet or a datasheet.
Concrete helicopter machine
Site slang, and the most vivid of the names: the blade spider spinning under the engine looks like a rotor. If a foreman asks for the helicopter, this is the machine he means.
Helicopter trowel / helicopter trowelling machine
The same nickname written the way a merchant or hire desk lists it. Helicopter trowelling is simply power floating done with a rotating blade machine rather than by hand.
Floater machine / floater trowel
Heard on UAE sites among crews who describe the machine by what it does to the slab — it floats the surface. A floater trowel and a power trowel are the same tool.
The word order moves around as well — trowel machine, trowelling machine, concrete trowel machine, trowel concrete machine. If a quote you are comparing uses one of those, it is quoting this machine, and it is worth checking the disc diameter before you decide one supplier is cheaper than another.

Applications
What a Power Float Does to a Concrete Floor
Fresh concrete sets with a weak skin of laitance — fine particles and water drawn up to the surface. Left alone, that skin is what dusts, wears and lifts. A trowel machine for concrete works it in two stages: floating embeds the coarse aggregate and closes the pores, then trowelling compresses the paste into a hard, dense finish.
Closing and densifying the surface
As a concrete finishing machine it does two things hand tools cannot do at scale: it drives out the weak laitance skin, and it compresses the paste into a dense, low-porosity surface. A power floated concrete floor resists dusting, abrasion and moisture far better than a hand-finished one, which is why warehouse and industrial specifications call for it.
Warehouse and industrial floor slabs
The work a power float finish is specified for. Large open pours where a Class A or B surface is required, and where a trowel machine for concrete covers ground fast enough to keep up with the set.
Villa and apartment floor slabs
Finish-grade surfaces before tiling or screed. A power float concrete finish here means less levelling compound later — the flatter the slab comes off the machine, the less is spent correcting it.
Carpark and podium decks
High-traffic concrete that needs a tight, closed surface. Used as a concrete smoothing machine on the final passes, it leaves the hard skin that takes the wear instead of the aggregate below it.
Roof slabs and waterproofing substrates
A flat, closed surface is what a membrane needs to bond to. Power trowel for concrete roof slabs is standard practice in UAE construction for exactly this reason.
Lean concrete and mass pours
Closing the bleed water and tightening the surface before curing — the pass that stops a big pour drying out blotchy and weak at the top.
One thing no concrete smoothing machine can do is fix bad concrete underneath. If the pour was not consolidated properly, the surface will tell on you — a concrete vibrator earns its keep before the float ever reaches the slab.

Types — Walk Behind, Ride On, Electric
What we hold and what we quote are two different lists, so here is which is which. Both stocked machines are walk behind and petrol; ride on and electric are real options, just not off the shelf.
Walk behind power float
Stocked in AjmanOne rotor, one operator, blade pitch adjusted on the handle. This is what AMACO holds and what most UAE contractors buy — it fits through a doorway, loads on a pickup, and finishes a villa slab or a light industrial floor without a second machine. Both our diameters are walk behind.
Small power trowel — 24 inch
Stocked in AjmanThe smaller of the two discs. A small power trowel gets closer to walls, columns and doorways than a big machine can, and it is the easier one to handle on a slab that is more edge than middle. Slower across open floor, which is the trade.
Ride on power trowel
Quoted on orderTwin or quad rotor machines an operator sits on. They finish warehouse-scale floors several times faster than a walk behind and are standard for dedicated flooring subcontractors. We do not hold a ride on trowel machine in stock — tell us the floor area and we will quote one on order with a confirmed lead time.
Electric power trowel
On requestPetrol is standard on UAE slabs because mains power is not always reliable where the pour is and because the engine handles dust well. An electric trowel machine is the right call indoors, in basements and anywhere exhaust is a problem — electric variants are available on request rather than from stock.
